Greetings friends and family,

As some of you may know, I am half Nigerian and half American meaning that the woman who birthed me into this world is a Yoruba woman while my father is African American, proudly from Baltimore city, lol. Both of them raising me together gave me the opportunity to look at things from 2 unique perspectives and cultural standpoint. Therefore, as we celebrate Nigeria's 62nd independence, my perspective is this:

Despite the state of the Nigerian economy, devalued currency and the terrorism, socialism, tribalism and all the other "isms" that our corrupts government needs to make right, I still have a soft spot for that country and there are so many things that I love about Nigeria. It reminds me of my marriage. Yes the atmosphere could be challenging at times, yes there are times I want to pack my bags and run away. However, there is something beautiful about the union that makes it hard for me to turn my back on it. The love in my heart keeps me coming back "home" because there is no place like home and I am sure you have heard the saying, "home is where the heart is". This was the inspiration for my new song "Titi Lai Lai", my love song to my beloved country, Nigeria.
